Registration Requirements

Ready to be part of one of Canada’s largest powwows? Working in collaboration with Powwow Times, we are looking for the best-of-the-best competitors to bring the highest calibre of competition to the Saddledome July 12 – 14 during the 2022 Calgary Stampede. To be eligible to compete, you need to fill out the registration linked below and pay the registration fee.

Important Information

Applications will close at 5 p.m. on June 15, 2022. Late applications will not be considered. Registrations are will be reviewed on a rolling basis; all accepted competitors will have registration confirmation by June 20, 2022.

Officially registered applicants will receive four (4) passes for free admission to Stampede Park for all three days (July 12 – 14) of the competition. We are excited to welcome you to the Calgary Stampede and hope that you’ll take in the world-famous Rodeo, Evening Show featuring the Cowboys Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon races and Relay Races, Elbow River Camp presented by Enbridge, enjoy the food and rides of the Midway and so much more.

Travelling internationally? We welcome international competitors to the Stampede Powwow and we urge you to be familiar with travel requirements and guidelines.

Categories

There are seven dance categories, listed below, in two age groupings: 18 – 34 and 35+:

  • Men’s Chicken

  • Men’s Fancy

  • Women’s Fancy

  • Men’s Grass

  • Women’s Jingle

  • Men’s Traditional

  • Women’s Traditional

The Calgary Stampede Powwow will be inviting drum groups. If you wish to be considered, please contact us at powwow@calgarystampede.com.

The Calgary Stampede Powwow will not feature vendors or special concessions. We hope you will enjoy the amazing Midway Food selection and the variety of First Nations artists located in Elbow River Camp and the BMO Marketplace.
